The bell must be heard !

The main function of a bell is to be heard by the occupants of the house. That’s why we recommend bronze bells. They have a crystalline timbre that is easily perceptible by all. For over 225 years, the Maison PACCARD has been working with bell bronze, a copper and tin alloy, also known as brass, which provides exceptional sound quality, roundness and homogeneity.

Tinted or swinging ?

There is two types of bell ringing :
Tinted bell :
  • A small chain is hooked up to the clapper, to ring the bell by its inside.
  • Fix frame.
Swinging bell :
  • A small chain is hooked up to the frame. Pull it, and the bell will swing and ring.

Bell's range

The sound of the bell is made up of vibrations that are more easily perceived if there is no obstacle to the propagation of the sound and if the bell is placed at height.
This configuration will depend on where you can place the bell and the size of the chosen model.
 
The size of the bell is usually judged by its diameter at the base. This will also affect the power of the sound, in other words, the bigger the bell is (and therefore heavy) the more the range of the sound will be.
