Differents finish for PACCARD Bells

Bell made of bronze for ever and ever…

Our bells are made of bronze, a noble alloy of 78% copper and 22% tin. This alloy guarantees the bell good resistance and excellent sonority

Bronze also gives the bells an exceptional longevity. Indeed, the oxidation of this metal is stable. Unlike iron that rusts and disintegrates, bronze turn green (or tan, depending on the climate) but retains its integrity perfectly. This explains why bells that are centuries old, or even millennia old, can still ring.

It is very important to keep this in mind when choosing the finish of a bell: whatever the chosen finish, at the end, the bell will be green or brown ! The aging process of bronze has a very variable duration : from 2 to 5 years in some cases and from 15 to 30 years in others. In simple terms, we will say that the drier the air, the more the bell retains its patina, the more saline and moist it is, the faster aging.
  • Brushed Finish

First, the bell is cleaned by sandblasting. After, the bell is brushed on the entire area.

This finish is simple and refine !
  • Old Bronze Finish

First the bell is cleaned by sandblasting. After, we apply a browning patina on the piece to put the bell in dark brown hues. Next, the decorations are polished, bringing out the golden color. And finally, a felt is applied dirrectly on the coin and gives it its shiny appearance.

It's the perfect finish to highlight inscriptions and decorations !
  • Mirror Polished Finish

One of the most completed finish ! Polishing is made by sandpaper again and again until the bell become a mirror !

A splendid and glaring finish, recommand with the least possible decorations !
  • Antique Green Patina Finish

First the bell is cleaned by sandblasting. After, we apply a green patina on the piece. Next, the decorations are polished.

It's the perfect finish to highlight inscriptions and decorations !
  • Black Patina Finish

The steps are the same that old bronze finish. One difference, the felt is substitutes by a black shining to give the bell a a black hue. Again, the decorations are polished.

A elegant and modern finish, recommand for the bells with or whithout decorations.
